Love GIMP, but can't wait till the next release, and the Tablet issues under Windows, get fixed..

That said GIMP is still my "go to" application when inspiration strikes..

Hi all, I'm a GIMP lover but need some help.

I'm recolouring an old sketch I did ages ago.

I did the sketch by drawing it with pencil, going over it with a black fineliner, scanning it, thresholding the outline, then painting it in GIMP with layers underneth the outline layer

My question is this; how can I recolour my black outline to any colour I see fit. I'm repainting the sketch with darker colours, and a black outline vanishes against it.

Okay. Fixed it.

Now I'm colouring in the layers, but everytime I go under my outline (which is the top layer) the colours merge and my bright (currently red) outline goes dark again.

How can I get the outline to stay the same color?

GIMP ISSUES...So I was just digitally coloring a horse on GIMP, when I may have hit a key or something on my tablet (Intuos 4) when everything visible turned to grayscale. I had just saved it, so I closed the program and restarted it, and it was back to normal. Then somehow I did the same thing again, not sure how I did it, and all of my visible layers are grayscale. I hadn't saved my art at this point, so I saved it and shut down the program again. This time when I reopened it, it was saved in the grayscale. I can make my white bg visible, and by clicking the eye, and it shows up as an actual white. This does Not have to do with going to Image>Mode>Grayscale. It says that it is currently on RGB. Does anyone know any tricks or pointers? Or do you know a GIMP Master I can talk to? Thanks

Did you change the brush from norm to some thing else --Did you change the layers --- I have had this prob. before--- If I can not help you  We will find some one that can. The last time I had a prob. with Gimp a young Girl in China solved it for me. I had spent four days on line -- than I ask the DA for help and got it.   DA is a great place to be. ---gip
